Sapura wanted to expand its GIRN nationwide TETRA network, but decided not to be tied to a single system. The challenge was simply to interconnect two different systems, but the TETRA Inter-System Interface (ISI) was (and still is) not capable of supporting the level of operations desired.
After extensive research, we identified a potential solution in Teltronic’s Center for Inter-Systems Integration Server (CISIS) which offered much more than ISI. However, it still did not fully meet Sapura’s requirements. So we started joint development of a new CISIS that is able to provide seamless full service interoperability across two systems without compromising on TETRA security. With this, Sapura successfully expanded GIRN with a new system while maintaining a single-network continuous mobility user experience.
This presentation describes Sapura’s creation of the world’s first multi-system TETRA network.
