Keski-Suomi Rescue Department is responsible for fire and rescue services and accident prevention in the Central Finland province. Central Finland province has 275 000 residents. The area is 19 948 km2 and consists of 16 703 km2 land mass and 3 245 km2 inland water area. The Department employs a staff of 200 professional firefighters, 100 paramedics and 1000 voluntary firefighters in 47 fire stations. Every year the Rescue Department answers to 5000 alarms dispatched by the Finnish Emergency Response Center.
