BDBOS network operator joins TCCA

The operator of the world’s largest TETRA network – which is situated in Germany -, ALDB GmbH, has joined TCCA.

The company, which was founded in 2010, is fully state-owned having originally been a subsidiary of an international telecommunications equipment manufacturer. It operates Germany's BOS digital radio network, which is made up of more than 4,700 base stations and has 850,000 subscribers.
 
Speaking about the company's mission, its head of contract and service level management Ralf Weitzel said: ”Operating the world's largest TETRA network is our passion. As TCCA is the guardian of the TETRA standard and responsible for its ongoing development and promotion, we are pleased to be formally incorporated into the Association, which will help us to monitor new trends and respond with new and improved solutions.”
 
TCCA chief executive Tony Gray said: “TETRA remains the solid foundation of public safety networks around the world. Germany’s nationwide system assists its first responders in protecting citizens and communities every day, supported by the practical experience and critical deployment expertise of ALDB. We are delighted to welcome the ALDB team to TCCA.”
 
BDBOS’ end users include firefighters, police offices, as well as the German rescue services.
