Max Brandt
Max Brandt is Team Leader for the European Critical Communication System in the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) of the European Commission. He coordinates the Commission's activities in the area of critical communications, in particular the development of the European Critical Communications System (EUCCS). As part of DG HOME's Resilience Team, he is also responsible for operational work with EU Member States and other key European partners in the field of critical infrastructure resilience and countering hybrid threats. In 2024, Max Brandt was seconded to support former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, who, as Special Adviser to Commission President von der Leyen, presented his report on the future of security and defence policy. Before joining the European Commission in 2019, Max Brandt served as Chief of Staff for a Member of the European Parliament, as a research associate at the German Police University, and worked on security sector and capacity building projects for governmental and non-governmental organisations, particularly in the South Caucasus, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Cyprus.
